Creating a sense of belonging

For me, interior architecture is about more than how a space looks. It is about how it feels – and about the people who will live their lives there. I seek solutions where architecture, function, materials and atmosphere come together as a natural whole. Each project begins with the place and the people who will inhabit it, with the aim of creating spaces of beauty, character and lasting quality.

My own place of work

In one of Stavanger’s oldest streets is my own place of work – a space that, in many ways, expresses how I think about interior architecture.

The history of the building remains present. Sloping ceilings and existing timber structures meet new materials and objects, while views across the city’s tiled rooftops draw the surroundings into the space. Light and the changing seasons become part of the atmosphere.

Here, ideas are given room to grow, driven by curiosity and the joy of creating.

From thought to space

A project begins with listening. To the people, to the place and to the architecture. The process develops from the first ideas and spatial gestures to materials and details – always with the home as a whole in mind.

03 process

01 Understand

Needs, wishes and the way life is to be lived form the starting point, together with the architecture and the qualities already present in the place.

02 Develop

Spatial planning, materials, colours, lighting and furnishings are developed as parts of the same whole.

03 Realise

The solutions are refined and documented through drawings, material selections and details that carry the project’s idea through to completion.

A new project begins with a conversation

About the people who will be there.
About the place.
About how it should feel to come home.
